Sketchbook or Daybook 016

Horses... So... finding I wasn't so hot at drawing these critters I dug in, found some people that could (thanks Mr da Vinci) and started to warm up to some equine drawing... These will all be useful should I get to the next stage of illustrating this story...

Over the last year or so of teaching I've been thinking about what informs my own creativity in order to feed this stuff on to my students...

One of the big conclusions was that without my sketchbooks I wouldn't know what to do...

They are the heart of my working life and repositories for all the mad thoughts that I have while not working.

I encourage all my students whether 3D designers, illustrators, games designers, fine artists, film-makers, graphic designers or fashion students to carry one with them...

Even the ones who aren't strong draughtsmen/women

I tend to call them "Day-books", so as not to frighten off the sketch-shy... but as the title suggests I insist that they are used every day...
