Captain Marsh is mentioned in the classic Lovecraft short, "Shadow Over Innsmouth"... this sketch/doodle from my new sketchbook (big grin) was based on that...
It's kinda hard to avoid the Davy Jones (POTC) references seeing as how that was a big hit... but take a look at the production design sketches for Treasure Planet and other projects in that genre and you'll see the tentacle beards... Plus lets face it... Old man Cthulhu was the first with that particular look anyway...
